Top 10 most amazing diy desks

The desk is a very delicate part of the house. It’s the place where you usually work so it’s not the most fun and attractive part of the house. Still, it’s part of a larger picture so it should look like one. In order to get an ideal desk, the best idea would be to make it yourself. I don’t necessarily mean to start chopping wood and stuff like that but rather to personalize an already existing piece and make it seem original and, if possible, fun and attractive. Here are some ideas of how you can do that.

Designing and Building a New Desk
This is a more elaborate project. You’ll have to build a desk from scratch which is not difficult but it’s not too easy either. But sometimes this is what you have to do in order to get exactly what you want. In this case, it al started with an old solid wood door. The sawhorse legs were made using three pieces of pine glued together for each leg. Two of the legs have a hallow center for the power cord and the internet cable, a very clever solution. For the table top, the door had to be cut down to its final size of 28″ x 62″ then sanded. Now all you have to do is paint the table and you’re done.{found on thecheapgeek}

How to Build a Mini Laptop Desk
I’m personally a big fan of portable laptops. They’re smaller than regular laptops but they’re more practical and easier to carry around. Here’s how you can buy a desk for your own mini laptop. First you’ll have to cut the piece. Use laminated pine for the top, and pine for the risers and legs. You’ll also have to use a circular saw. Then cut a recess for the cable. Use a coin as a template and a jigsaw fitted with a scroll blade. Next you’ll have to cut the angled edges. Use a compound miter saw to cut the top and base of the legs and the front of the risers and a circular saw to cut the front edge of the shelf. Now it’s time to assemble the desktop with adhesive and screws. Drill pilot holes to attach the legs at the top with four #8 x 1-1/4-in. wood screws each side, plug the screw holes and paint the desk.{found onfreshhomeideas}

Here’s how you can make your own desk without paying tons of money and without sacrificing style or function. First decide on the dimensions, then but the wood. In this case, three planks of pine. Sand the wood and stain it. This desk has a walnut, water-based finish. Use a foam brush to apply it (2-3 coats). You’ll have to use some cabinets as a base, in this case three Ikea Besta Cabinets . This is a project that ahs as a result a modern desk that incorporates multiple finishes, thus achieving a glamorous and chic aspect. First you’ll need to start by sanding the top and the sides of the desk (provided that you already have one). Then use a blow torch and have fun with it. Lay the torch at such an angle that the flame licks across the surface as you move horizontally. After that, wipe it down with a wet cloth and start the staining process. Assemble the legs and the shelves and place a glass top over it and you’re done.
